Tift earns Georgia Dugout Club awards

Jun. 24—ATLANTA — Tift County has earned two honors in the annual Georgia Dugout Club awards.

Boone Webster is one of the 2022 Assistant Coaches of the Year and Devil Diamond is one of Class 7A's best.

Webster joined Tift's staff in 2021 and is the squad's main pitching coach. An alumnus of Centennial High School (Roswell), he has coaching experience at his alma mater, as well as at East Georgia State, Darton State, Albany State and Cook.

Webster and Camden County's Joe Allen were the only coaches from Region 1-7A named to the list, which covered all classifications and sections of Georgia.

It would be hard to top Devil Diamond's honor, but head coach Greg Williams said it is in the process of looking even better. Some signboards were installed during the 2022 season, but more are going up this summer. The 2022 campaign also saw a batter's eye permanently installed in centerfield.

Denmark and Lowndes were additionally named in 7A to Fields of the Year.
