Tigerhawk baseball moves to 2-0 after easy win over Braves

May 29—MONTEZUMA — Colfax-Mingo's baseball team registered 11 hits and drew 10 walks, Cole Bracewell finished with four hits at the plate and pitched five strong innings on the mound and the Tigerhawks blasted Montezuma 18-1 on Friday night.

Colfax-Mingo ended the game after six innings following a 14-run sixth frame during South Iowa Cedar League action.

Montezuma (0-3 overall, 0-3 in the conference) led 1-0 after one inning, but the Tigerhawks plated two in the third, two in the fifth and 14 in the sixth to end it early.

Bracewell was 4-for-4 at the dish with a double, three runs, six RBIs, one walk and two steals.

On the mound, the Tigerhawk senior tossed five innings and allowed one earned run on two hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

Cael Bracewell pitched the sixth inning and allowed no runs on no hits with one strikeout. He also doubled and tallied four runs, three walks and three steals at the plate.

Nathan Sloan finished with two hits, one double, two runs and one walk, Colton Edwards chipped in one hit, three runs, two walks and one RBI and Joe Earles registered one hit, one run, one RBI and two steals.

Andrew Hunter finished with two walks and two runs, Shane Aikin tallied one hit, one run an two RBIs and Will Zook added one hit and two RBIs.

Shane Hostetter walked once and scored one run and Trey Hockemeier scored one run and stole two bases.

Colfax-Mingo (2-0, 1-0) took advantage of nine Montezuma errors.
