MEMPHIS – Payback came early and often for the Tigers Sunday, beating up on Tulane almost a month after losing by two to the Green Wave in New Orleans.
It was a 25 point lead and the U of M never looked back. Trailing 3-2, Memphis pulled away thanks to a 23-3 run. David Jones, the AAC’s leading scorer, leading the U of M with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jones and Jahvon Quinerly combined to hit 8 of the Tigers 9 3-pointers with Quinerly finishing the day with 18 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Struggling to share the basketball this season, the Tigers had 21 assists on their 29 made baskets. Defensively, they forced the Green Wave into 14 turnovers.
Memphis now takes its three-game winning streak into a two game road trip that starts Thursday night at North Texas.
