Tigers place RHP Zimmerman on 10-day injured list

The Detroit Tigers placed righthander Jordan Zimmerman on the 10-day injured list on Friday, though he reportedly is expected to miss as much as a month.

Zimmerman, who turns 33 next month, is sidelined by an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right elbow.

According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, Zimmerman will rest for five to seven days before beginning rehab, which could last up to four weeks.

The Tigers recalled righthanded reliever Zac Reininger from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

Zimmerman has struggled this season, going 0-4 with a 5.93 ERA in six starts. He lasted just three innings against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, giving up five hits and five runs before getting the hook.

Reininger, 26, has appeared in 30 games for the Tigers over the past three seasons, posting an 8.81 ERA in 31 2/3 innings. He has a 0.90 ERA in six appearances at Toledo this season.
