Tight security as world leaders arrive for G7

STORY: More than 18,000 police officers are on duty to protect the head of states of seven of the world’s most advanced economies, which include Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Canada.

Russia, formerly a member of the group, was expelled after its annexation of Crimea in 2014.

The main topics on the agenda will be the war in Ukraine and the resulting global food insecurities.

The summit is scheduled to run for three days, until Tuesday (June 28).
