Anthony Barajas, a 19-year-old TikTok star in Los Angeles, is on life support in intensive care after a shooting at a movie theater in nearby Corona, California, on Monday night, the police said.

The police said Barajas' friend Rylee Goodrich, 18, was killed in the shooting.

Barajas, who has nearly 1 million TikTok followers on the account @itsanthonymichael, last posted on Friday and said he was on a family vacation.

Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis of the Corona Police Department told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that Barajas and Goodrich were at a 9:35 p.m. showing of the horror movie "Forever Purge," the latest in the "Purge" dystopian horror franchise, at the Crossings mall.

The theater's staff found the two while cleaning up after the movie, the police told CBS Los Angeles. Kailyn Dillon, an employee at the theater, said employees didn't hear anything abnormal during the screening.

"During the actual movie time, no one apparently heard the gunshot," she told the outlet. "I know that we do have security bag checks that we do on the daily and, unfortunately, I'm not sure if just was missed or if it was in a holster on their belt."

Kouroubacalis appealed for more information in a broadcast on Tuesday night. "I'm being told right now there were six tickets purchased for that movie showing," he said.

He added, "We're asking for anyone who might have been inside that movie, or a theater adjacent to that, for any information at all."

In a statement on Tuesday night, the Corona Police Department said that officers did not find a firearm in the theater and that they had made no arrests.

"Detectives are conducting follow up on all investigative leads with hopes of identifying the person(s) responsible for this heinous crime," the department said.

The department did not immediately respond to Insider's request for further updates.

Regal Cinemas, which owns the theater where the deadly shooting took place, told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that it was working with the authorities. "Our primary concern is for the safety and security of our guests and staff," it said.

Ashley Cole, Goodrich's cousin, told ABC 7 on Wednesday that Goodrich had a "great heart."

"It's a mystery that I hope people can come forth and talk about and report, so that we can get to the bottom of it," Cole said, adding, "There needs to be justice."
