TikToker dies skydiving, leaves friends in mourning. ‘Lived every second to the fullest’
A 21-year-old TikTok star died in a skydiving incident, leaving her online community, friends and family in mourning, loved ones shared.
Tanya Pardazi was a student at the University of Toronto and had participated in the semifinals of Miss Canada in the past, friends told CTV News.
“Tanya had an interest in anything that was new and adventurous,” Melody Ozgoli, Pardazi’s childhood friend, told CTV News. “Life was too boring for her and she was always trying to do something adventurous.”
Pardazi had a large TikTok following and was just about to crest 100,000 followers on her account @philosatea, where she often discussed philosophical topics and conspiracies.
Skydive Toronto released a statement that a 21-year-old skydiving student died in an accident on Aug. 27, but did not include Pardazi’s name in the release.
According to the company, the student released their parachute too low to the ground as it was rotating rapidly, and the reserve parachute didn’t have enough time to inflate.
“The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed,” Skydive Toronto wrote. “The team at Skydive Toronto Inc. has been profoundly affected by this accident.”
Skydive Toronto told McClatchy News it declined to comment any further on the incident.
On TikTok, her fans are left with a final video of Pardazi just days before her death: a recording of her describing the all-black puzzle she recently finished, and how she can’t stop seeing black puzzle pieces everywhere — a phenomenon she described as the “Tetris effect.”
“Rest in peace my friend,” one person commented. “I’m sorry you were taken from us so soon. I hope afterlife is all that you imagined and more, until we meet again.”
When Ozgoli first learned her friend had died, she told Toronto.com she thought it was a joke. Then, the reality kicked in.
“She always wanted to do something fun, always wanted to do something new and that’s just who she was,” Ozgoli told Toronto.com. “She wanted to enjoy life to the fullest, every single second.”
Pardazi’s funeral was in Richmond Hill, Ontario on Sept. 2, according to the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre.
