Tilda Swinton performs at Glastonbury with Max Richter

Marvel star Tilda Swinton has appeared on stage for a Glastonbury 2023 spoken word performance with composer Max Richter.
Taking to the stage on Saturday (June 24) morning, Richter was joined by his band and Swinton for a orchestral performance of Richter's 2004 record The Blue Notebooks (via Evening Standard).
Based on Franz Kafka’s The Blue Octavo Notebooks, the performance featured readings from the books as well as some poetry by Czesław Miłosz.

"Good morning, it’s amazing that so many of you got out of bed this morning really," Richter said to the crowd.
"It’s great to be here, really great to be here. It’s my first time playing here and it’s just an honour to be opening up this stage today, so we’re going to play for you a piece called The Blue Notebooks which was written in 2003.
Explaining how he wrote the record in protest to the Iraq war, Richter said: "It’s kind of a protest record. It’s in response to what was happening in politics around the build-up to the Iraq war where politics was turning into a branch of fantasy literature.
"Please welcome this amazing band, and please welcome Tilda Swinton, who’s going to read for us," he added.

Swinton, who was dressed in a light blue suit and yellow tie, then read to the crowd which included a naked man who tried to interrupt the show to make a speech. He was quickly escorted away by security.
Noticeably missing from Swinton's performance was her neon yellow hair, which she debuted last year at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Swinton wasn't the only movie star to take to the stage at Glastonbury this year, as Cate Blanchett appeared with the band Sparks.
Glastonbury Festival takes place from June 21-25, 2023.
