Time for a pumpkin spice latte? Check out these locally owned cafes for lattes, apple cider and more fall drinks

Cool air, colorful leaves and Halloween decorations all mean one thing: pumpkin spice lattes are back.

Pumpkin, maple, apple and more flavors are finally here, and you can indulge while supporting a local small business near you. Check out these cafes' fall drink menus.

Birch and Banyan Coffee, Hartland

Jessie Puzach, owner of Birch and Banyan, 150 E. Capital Drive, dreamed of opening a coffee shop since she was a teenager. Now, Birch and Banyan is a local staple.

The cozy shop's fall menu includes:

  • salted caramel mocha

  • pumpkin pie latte

  • caramel spiced cider with apple cider from Pine Hill Orchard, an apple orchard in Hubertus.

The café has started to offer a special "drink of the month"; this month,  it's a s'mores mocha.

One of its fall favorites is the maple morning bun latte, but you don't have to rush to grab it before the season ends. Customers loved it so much that the cafe moved it to its year-round menu.

Birch and Banyan is open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mama D's, Waukesha and Wales

Mama D's, at 928 N. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, and 104 W. Main St., Wales, is all about community. The restaurants were opened to give people of all ages a comfortable place to gather.

Mama D's didn't forget about Halloween season when naming its fall drinks. The seasonal menu features:

  • Scarecrow Cold Brew with pumpkin coffee and chocolate cold foam

  • Sweater Weather Latte with white chocolate, hazelnut and cinnamon powder

  • Cinderella Latte, a mix of pumpkin and white chocolate

  • Chaider (chai and apple cider)

  • Frankenstein Matcha, a matcha latte with blueberry flavoring

  • pumpkin spice latte

  • apple cider

Both locations are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. On the weekends, the Waukesha location is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Wales location is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Vintage Grounds, Muskego

Vintage Grounds, S74 W16825 W. Janesville Road, invites the community to work, read and enjoy each other's company, sometimes to the sound of local musicians or surrounded by local art.

Its fall menu features:

  • pumpkin pie chai

  • maple pecan latte

  • Harvest Macchiato

  • pumpkin pie latte

  • cold brew with pumpkin spice foam

  • caramel apple cider

  • pumpkin pie frappe or shake

  • caramel apple frappe or shake

  • Caramel Apple Chai-Der

Vintage Grounds also serves alcoholic drinks, like a salted caramel liqueur cide or brown sugar bourbon latte. Check out the Vintage Grounds Coffeehouse page on Facebook to find out when local artists are scheduled to perform.

It's open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Inclusion Coffee Co., 3152 Village Square Drive, opened in March. Its mission is in the name: to promote inclusivity. Owner Mackenzie Edinger's goal is for 50% of staff positions to be filled by individuals with disabilities.

The Roots Coffeebar and Café, 124 E. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc, is owned by sisters Heidi Laatsch and Hilary DeVries. Their family members can be seen helping out behind the counter.

The Roots' fall menu offers:

  • brown sugar cold brew

  • pumpkin spice latte

The sisters include family in every way they can, even naming menu items after their parents' favorite bands.

It's open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends.

Blüm Coffee Garden, Greenfield

Blüm Coffee Garden is inside Bluemel's Garden and Landscape Center at 4930 W. Loomis Road. Whether you're sitting inside or outside, you'll be surrounded by vibrant plants in every season.

The cafe serves Colectivo coffee. The first seasonal drinks are:

  • iced pumpkin pie cold foam coffee

  • white mocha maple latte

Blüm's manager, Lauren Kritter, said the shop plans to offer more in upcoming weeks.

Keep an eye on bit.ly/BlumSchedule for live music performances, yoga classes and beer garden hours, all held outside on the cafe's patio as long as the weather permits.

It's open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hillside Coffee House, Oak Creek

Located inside a historic landmark at 237 E. Ryan Road, Hillside Coffeehouse's art-covered walls and cozy, vintage furniture make the cafe feel like home.

The 1800's schoolhouse-turned-bakery serves Anodyne coffee and homemade pastries. Owner Rose Patterson makes her own coffee syrup to add flavor to the drink of your choice.

Hillside's homemade flavors for fall include:

  • bourbon spice

  • hot butter rum

  • caramel apple

  • maple

  • pumpkin (year-round)

Hillside is open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends.

Cuppa Tosa, Wauwatosa

Cuppa Tosa, 418 N. Mayfair Road, is owned and operated by the Fugarino family. The Fugarinos owned Giuseppi's Italian Restaurant on the same corner from 1975 to 2001.  Today, the family owns Giuseppi's Pizzeria in New Berlin.

Cuppa Tosa's fall menu:

  • pumpkin spice latte

  • white chocolate pumpkin mocha

  • pecan pie cold brew

These drinks will be offered closer to Thanksgiving, said owner Vita Fugarino:

  • white chocolate peppermint mocha

  • eggnog latte

  • Black Forest mocha

Loca Latte, Sussex

Loca Latte, N63 W23217 Main St., understands that cravings for a pumpkin latte last all year. That's why the breakfast spot offers seasonal flavors year-round, including apple, cranberry, pomegranate, maple, brown sugar, cinnamon, salted caramel, caramel apple, white chocolate, and, of course, pumpkin.

Loca Latte's fall specials include:

  • apple cinnamon latte

  • pumpkin frappe

  • apple cranberry spritzer

Customers can pick from more than 50 flavors to add to their hot chocolate. Drinks can be enjoyed around the restaurant's fire pit.

Loca Latte is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends.

Fiddleheads Coffee Roasters, Milwaukee and North Shore

If you're looking for a fall treat, you'll have quite a few options at the multiple Fiddleheads Coffee Roasters locations in Milwaukee and across the North Shore.

The fan-favorite pumpkin chocolate chip muffin is back and continues to sell out as quickly as the shop makes them, said spokesperson Bill Moeller. Fiddleheads also has a dark chocolate chip cherry muffin, cinnamon chip scone with cider glaze, and two cookies including the apple cinnamon and butter pecan with sea salt.

The seasonal drink and bakery menu features:

  • pumpkin spice latte

  • Harvest Latte

  • spiced matcha

  • apple pie cider

The signature sandwich for autumn is the toasted chicken pesto sandwich, which includes pesto marinated chicken topped with provolone cheese and roasted tomato.
