The first debate of the 2024 presidential race took place Wednesday.

Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, hosted the Republican presidential primary debate, which had a crowd of roughly 4,000 people, CNN reports. Eight candidates took the stage, including Cincinnati native Vivek Ramaswamy, who entered the race earlier this year.

So, who won the first Republican faceoff? Where can you stream the debate? Who is Vivek Ramaswamy?

Here's everything to know.

Who won the Republican debate last night?

Despite his absence during Wednesday night's debate, former president Donald Trump maintains a nearly 40-point lead in the polls, according to The Washington Post. Of the participating candidates, Ramaswamy garnered the most attention last night.

The 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur from Cincinnati received the most attacks from his opponents, clashing with former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. With Ramaswamy rising in the polls, the focus was largely on his inexperience in elected office.

It's unclear what effect, if any, the debate will have on Ramaswamy's popularity and the race overall.
