The container that once housed Hall of Fame linebacker Jack Lambert's false teeth has gotten a fair share of nibbles on the auction block.

With the deadline to purchase an unusual piece of football memorabilia approaching, Lambert's false teeth container has fetched a high bid of $1,514 on Lelands.com as of Wednesday afternoon.

Bidding, which began Feb. 25, concludes at 11 p.m. Friday. The container began with an original offer of $300 and has received 18 bids during its duration at auction.

During his playing days with the Steelers from 1974-84, Lambert would store his teeth in a light blue plastic container while practicing or playing in games. The container has Lambert's uniform No. 58 written in black marker on the top and front. He also signed and inscribed his number and 'HOF 90' in black Sharpie.

The promotional description for the item notes that Lambert's false teeth are not included — just the container.

The item is one of 23 from Lambert's personal football collection that he decided to put up for auction at Lelands.com, which has collaborated with the Steelers and former players such as Rocky Bleier on previous auctions.

If the container doesn't interest memorabilia collectors, Lambert is auctioning off a few others that might be worth chewing on:

—The most popular item to date has been a game ball from Super Bowl XIV that Lambert intercepted in the fourth quarter of the Steelers' 31-19 victory against the Los Angeles Rams. The ball, which is autographed, has received 20 bids with a high of $6,114.

—The most expensive item has been an autographed game-worn helmet from the 1976 Pro Bowl. It has received eight bids with a high of $9,743.

—A game-worn jersey from a Pro Bowl appearance — believed to be from 1977-79 — has a high bid of $4,392.

—One person has matched the opening bid of $5,000 for the trophy awarded to Lambert for being named to the NFL's 75th anniversary team.

—A pair of game-worn cleats has received 12 bids and is up to $1,429. Also receiving a dozen offers for the same high bid is an autographed game ball from the AFC championship game following the 1975 season. Lambert had three fumble recoveries in the 16-10 victory against the Oakland Raiders.

All items in the Lambert collection can be viewed here at Lelands.com.
