Almost time for Tour de Fat

After the COVID-19 pandemic rained on its parade in 2020 and 2021, New Belgium Brewing's Tour de Fat will be back in Fort Collins. With Sept. 3 marking the event's return after three years away, you might have forgotten just how it works. Well, never fear. Here's a little guide reintroducing you to the wild that is Tour de Fat.

Where to find frozen wine

Need to beat this late-summer heat? Go against the grain in beer-soaked Fort Collins by seeking out some of the city's frozen wine offerings instead. Take your pick of frosty frosés, sangrias and even a wine made from aronia berries grown here in Fort Collins.

Imaginations, engage

Dolly Parton's' Imagination Library is officially available in Larimer County. The international children's literacy program, which seeks to instill an early love of reading by providing one free book a month to children under the age of 5, is now available through the United Way of Larimer County. According to reporting by the Coloradoan's Bethany Osborn, roughly 17,000 area children are eligible. For more on how to sign up for the program, read Bethany's full story.

I may not have been a teenager in 1960s Fort Collins, but it sure was fun talking to people who were for this recent piece on the history of Club Tico. The city-owned building — which was built as a community dance hall in 1921 — has lived many lives within its storied walls. After its dance hall days, it served as a part-time roller rink, a teen club and senior center before settling into its currently life as a community and events center.
