Time to vote! Which of these 15 restaurants has the best seafood on Hilton Head Island?
Hilton Head Island’s restaurants feature a wide variety of foods, but the mark of a great beach town has to be the quality of its seafood offerings.
Would it be possible to choose the most well-rounded among Hilton Head’s many seafood restaurants? We asked readers this question last week, and they responded in droves.
Nearly 550 nominations were submitted for 38 restaurants. For the record, we did count the one nomination for McDonald’s since there is a location on Hilton Head, but we eliminated those for restaurants in Bluffton and Charleston.
Our plan was to move the top 16 nominees into the next round and let readers vote on their favorites. The bottom eight vote-getters would be cut. However, when all the nominations were tallied, 16th place ended up as a seven-way tie. The seven restaurants each received three nominations.
For that reason, we made the decision to move only the top 15 into the voting rounds, and the first week we will cut the bottom seven vote-getters, leaving us with eight restaurants to move forward in the poll.
Here are the top 15, in alphabetical order:
Captain Woody’s Bar and Grill
Carolina Crab Company
Charlie’s Coastal Bistro
Crazy Crab (both locations)
Ela’s on the Water
Fishcamp on Broad Creek
Fish Coastal Casual Seafood
Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks
Main Street Island Pub
Old Oyster Factory
Poseidon
Scott’s Fish Market Restaurant and Bar
Sea Shack
Skull Creek Boathouse
Sunset Grille
With each round of voting, the field will be cut in half until one restaurant stands alone with the title of best seafood on Hilton Head.
So, dear readers, what do you think of when you hear the words Hilton Head seafood restaurant? You should consider personal flavor preferences, atmosphere, location, cooking style and cost. Which restaurant offers a high standard of dishes and service that tourists and residents alike can count on, whether it’s a place known for a casual lunch or the fanciest of special occasion dinners?
With nominations out of the way, we’ve wiped the slate clean, and this is anyone’s game to win.
Please note the only prize is bragging rights. It’s also worth noting that, because we aren’t limiting the number of times anyone can vote, this poll should not be considered scientific. It’s just for fun!
