Time to vote for Marion County High School Athlete Of The Week

Sports are in full swing in Marion County, and that means it's time to vote for athlete of the week. We have a loaded panel of athletes to choose from, including basketball and soccer stars.

Two North Marion basketball stars earned nominations after leading their teams to 3-0 weeks. Ciarra Lake continues her strong play for her second nomination in the last two weeks. The MCIAC soccer tournament turned out two nominees as Forest and Vanguard were crowned champions.

You can vote for your favorite athlete once per hour. Please share the poll on social media so friends and family can get in on the action. Voting will close Thursday at 11:59 p.m.

Ciarra Lake, West Port

Stats: 12 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2 bpg, 1 spg

Lake was the leading scorer in two of her team's three games last week. Her ability to score, rebound, pass, and defend the rim all helped her team go undefeated.

Addison Fratello, Vanguard

Stats: 2 goals, 2 assists, 6 points, 22 steals

Wan averaged a goal a game for the MCIAC champion Knights. She helped her team win the championship title by chipping in one of her team's four penalty kicks.

Garrett Smith, Forest

Stats: 0 goals allowed during the MCIAC tournament

Forest won the MCIAC title, and Smith protected the net for the Wildcats. He didn't allow a single goal during the tournament.

D'nhia Johnson, North Marion

Stats: 18 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.3 spg

Johnson led North Marion in scoring and assists during its 3-0 run. Her two-way play helped the Colts hold Leesburg to a season-low 28 points.

Sammie Yeanay, North Marion

Stats: 18.7 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 4 bpg, 2 spg

Yeanay's string of double-doubles and impact on both ends earned him a spot on this list. The junior stepped into North Marion's starting lineup to help the Colts go 3-0 during the week.
