It’s time to vote for the Mississippi Coast football Athlete of the Week for September 4

The Mississippi Coast was spotted with big wins, exciting games and huge performances in week two.

Established stars and rising talents came up big in key moments around the region. Now is your chance to vote for the best showing of the week.

This week players are nominated from George County, Gulfport, Hancock, Gautier, Picayune, St. Stanislaus and Pascagoula.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Friday, September 8, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Kelvin Beavers, Gautier: Beavers took over at quarterback for the Gators and completed 26 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-20 win over D’Iberville. Also had 48 rush yards and a score.

  • Brandon Gautier, George County: Gautier ran the ball 20 times for 127 yards in the Rebels’ 41-28 win over Greene County.

  • Nico Williams, Gulfport: Williams threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns in a 51-14 win over Vancleave.

  • Dylan Moran, Hancock: Moran completed 9-of-12 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-27 win over Moss Point.

  • Silas Corder, Pascagoula: Corder completed 10 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another 100 yards and a score in the Panthers’ 34-6 win over East Central.

  • Ian Gonzalez Rioz, St. Stanislaus: The senior rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns, plus completed 14 passes for 150 yards and two more scores in a 51-21 win over Bay High.

  • Chris Davis, Picayune: Davis had three rushing touchdowns in the 36-35 overtime loss to Catholic (La.).
