Timelapse Shows Big Snow Buildup in Northern New York

Timelapse footage captured in Osceola, in New York’s North Country, shows major snow buildup on Monday, January 10, as more than two feet of lake-effect snow fell in the area.

Kaitlyn Jesmonth, a meteorology student at SUNY Oswego, compiled the footage from a camera owned by New York State Mesonet, a statewide network of 126 weather stations that’s operated by the University of Albany. Jesmonth posted the footage on Twitter, writing that it was “just too impressive to not share.”

Taken over a period of about 17 hours, from 12 am to 5:15 pm Monday, the timelapse video shows several inches of snow piling up around a chain-link fence.
