TIMELINE: Winter weather to impact North Carolina overnight, Thursday morning

Winter weather is continuing to impact our area as brutally cold temperatures move from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

A wind chill advisory has been put in place for the high country until noon due to wind chill values that will be well below zero in some spots.

Charlotte had its coldest morning of the season, with a morning low of 18 degrees. The last time we were in the teens in Charlotte was in late December of 2022.

Winter Weather Timeline:

  • Noon to midnight: While temperatures are slowly recovering, it is going to take until midday before we are back above freezing. Highs will barely reach 40 degrees on Wednesday.

  • Midnight to mid-morning: Overnight, temperatures are expected to be in the teens and low 20s. It won’t be quite as cold on Thursday morning, but it will still remain quite chilly.
