Times Herald-Record Student of the Week: See this week's winner

Florida's Stephanie Reicherter has been chosen the Times Record-Herald Student of the Week.

A senior at SS. Seward Institute, Stephanie was one of nine nominees submitted by local school districts and received the most votes cast online.

Stephanie's nomination applauded her rank in the top 10% of her class and position as student council president and three-sport athlete, all while participating in many community service opportunities.

Next week's poll

Local school administrators have nominated students who have shown outstanding academic and school achievements for the next round of Student of the Week voting.

Our second poll will publish on Monday, Jan. 29 with a new list of nominees. Voting will be open through noon, Thursday, Feb. 1 on our website.

We will announce the winner at recordonline.com on Friday, Feb. 2 and in the Times Herald-Record on Sunday, Feb. 4.

A look at the other nominees for the Times Herald-Record Student of the Week

Ariana Azeez, Chester: Senior Ariana Azeez is a leader and role model for our students. Her goal to become a pediatric physician was influenced by her own heart surgery as an infant.

She developed a unique bond with her pediatric cardiologist and had the extraordinary opportunity to intern with him for the past two summers.

Ariana is actively involved in our school and community as a member of the Class of 2024, National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club (Kiwanis service organization), Multicultural Club, Yearbook and Girl Scouts and has participated in a variety of community service activities.

Scott Cole, Tri-Valley: Scott Cole is a senior who has been a stellar student his entire high school career.

He has maintained an incredible GPA while also consistently being respectful, polite, and personable.

We are excited for his future!

Michael Culver, Middletown: Michael Culver, a senior, demonstrated exceptional leadership and quick thinking when he played a crucial role in helping a fellow student experiencing an asthma attack. His prompt actions not only ensured the student received the necessary medical assistance but also exemplified a commendable level of responsibility and compassion.In addition to his remarkable act of kindness, Michael is a standout athlete at MHS, running back for the football team and point guard for the basketball team. His dedication to both sports showcases his commitment to excellence not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities.Michael Culver's admirable qualities and positive contributions to our school community make him a deserving candidate for this recognition.

Juliana Juras, Marlboro: Juliana, a senior, is a talented, hardworking student. She is also the reigning NYS Division II Discus Champion.

"Juliana is an exemplary student for her academic diligence, empathetic affability, and her stalwart dedication to always putting forth her best," said English teacher Chris DiLeo.

"She stands out among her peers as a genuine leader, inspiring, considerate, and compassionate. She has made Marlboro proud both in the athletic arena and in the classroom."

Katrina Kranik, Port Jervis: Katrina is ranked in the top 20 of the senior class. She is taking all dual enrollment college courses during her senior year and has performed exceptionally well in her classes.

Katrina is very creative and artistic and received first place in the ADAC poster contest in her sophomore year and second place in the ADAC poster contest in her junior year.

Overall, Katrina is an excellent student who is extraordinarily intelligent and a creative thinker. We highly recommend her for the student of the week.

Kenisha Ledoux, Liberty: Kenisha, a junior, is an outstanding leader and a great member of our school community.

She is involved in many facets of our school such as being one of the student leaders of the Lighthouse Team, a player on different sports teams, and also is a member of National Honor Society.

You can often find Kenisha offering a helping hand with various projects and things going on in school.

Charlie Nemec, Tuxedo Union: Senior Charlie Nemec is the only TUFSD scholar in the past decade to pursue a post-secondary education in fashion design.

“Charlie is one of the most ambitious art students we’ve seen in recent years," said George Grant Mason Elementary School Art teacher Mark Stankiewicz, who helped her assemble an art portfolio for college applications. "She has her own style and I encouraged her to embrace her passion."

"The most important thing you should know about Charlie," said music teacher Clayton Chan, "is that she is one of the kindest students I have ever had the privilege of teaching."

“There is no doubt in my mind that Charlie will be a name that we are going to hear and see in the future," said George F. Baker art teacher Kris Greco. "She just has that special something, whatever it is - we will, for sure, see her art grace the runway.”

Stephanie Reicherter, Florida: Stephanie is a senior at S.S. Seward Institute and represents Florida, New York with pride.

A true Spartan, Stephanie is in the top 10% of her class.

She is taking several college courses, participates in countless community service opportunities, is a three-sport athlete, and serves as the student council president.

Connor White, Eldred: Connor is an exceptional young man!

He continues to challenge himself in AP, Honors and Sullivan County Community College classes.

He has a 99.9 GPA and has a very high SAT score of 1550.
