Times-Reporter journalists named finalists in Ohio APME contest

Three Times-Reporter journalists have been named finalists for awards in the annual Ohio Associated Press Media Editors contest.

Finalists were announced this week. The awards in order of finish — first, second and third places — will be announced May 7 at an awards ceremony at the Villa Milano Banquet & Conference Center in Columbus.

Staff writer Jon Baker is a finalist for best business writer, and best spot news coverage for a story about a fatal fire in Newcomerstown that killed a family of six.

Staff writer Nancy Molnar won awards for best feature writer, and best enterprise story for examining what happened to the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park.

Meanwhile, Andrew Dolph is a finalist for best photographer, best feature photo, best news photo and best sports photo.

The Times-Reporter also is a finalist for best digital presence.

The newspaper competes in Division III among Ohio papers such as the Sandusky Register, Wooster Daily Record and Mansfield News Journal.

The contest featured news and sports stories, features, editorials, columns, graphics and photos from 2022.
