Times-Reporter staff members win awards in Ohio APME competition

Times-Reporter staff writers Nancy Molnar and Jon Baker, and photographer Andrew Dolph won five first-place awards in the annual Ohio Associated Press Media Editors contest.

Overall, the newspaper and TimesReporter.com won nine awards, which were handed out at a ceremony Sunday at the Villa Milano Banquet & Conference Center in Columbus. The Times-Reporter competes in Division III against similar sized newspapers such as the Wooster Daily Record, Mansfield News Journal and Sandusky Register.

Dolph received first-place awards for Best Photographer, Best News Photo and Best Feature Photo. He also received a third-place award for Best Sports Photo.

Baker received a first-place award for Best Business Writer. He also received second-place honors in the Best Spot News Coverage category for his story about a fatal fire in Newcomerstown that killed six members of the Elliott-Hendricks family, including four children.

Molnar received a first-place award in the Best Enterprise Reporting category. She also received a second-place award for Best Feature Writer.

The Times-Reporter also won first place for Best Digital Presence.

The contest featured news and sports stories, features, editorials, columns, graphics and photos from 2022.
