Jun. 18—LIMA — 2022 Senate candidate Jane Timken held a campaign event in Lima on Thursday night, hearing the concerns of voters and making her case to replace retiring Senator Rob Portman in the upcoming election.

While the race for Ohio's senate seat is still in its infancy, the former Ohio GOP Chairwoman is working to get a head start over the other top candidate, Josh Mandel, former Ohio State Treasurer and another pro-Trump conservative. Timken believes that her record and experience stack up well against the competition. Trump won Ohio by 8 points in 2020 with her leading the efforts on the ground.

"When I became Chair of the Ohio Republican Party, we still were a divided party, but I worked hard to unify Republicans, and I did that and I turned the party into a well-oiled machine that delivered results, up and down the ballot," Timken said. "From township trustees to county commissioners, to statewide, to our congressional, and then President Trump."

Despite the 2020 election loss for the former president, Timken thinks that the America First agenda is still on the minds of Ohio voters.

"They like President Trump's policies," she said. "If you think about what he was able to accomplish, whether it was securing the border or being strong on a national foreign policy stage. Our economy was booming before the pandemic, we had invested in our military and veterans. Those are things that resonate with voters and they still resonate with voters."

Those same ideas are resonating with the Allen County GOP, where Timken has established an early stronghold for her campaign, earning endorsements from Allen County GOP Chairman Keith Cheney and all three Allen County Commissioners.

As of right now, no Ohio senate candidate has earned the coveted endorsement from the 45th President for the 2022 race, but Timken will be in attendance at Trump's Save America rally in Ohio on June 26. The rally at the Lorain County Fairgrounds marks Trump's first rally since his defeat in the 2020 election.
