Tinton Falls car crash kills two, police investigating

TINTON FALLS - A two-car crash at the intersection of Asbury Avenue and Shafto Road in Tinton Falls left two people dead Thursday evening, authorities said.

First responders found a 2021 Audi S6, driven by a 36-year-old Manalapan man, and a 2005 Ford Freestyle, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Brick, at the scene.

The woman was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. The man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he died of his injuries shortly after, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Friday.

The identities of the victims are not yet known to the public.

The collision, which remains under investigation, happened just after 7 p.m., Linskey said. Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, the Prosecutor's Office and the Tinton Falls police all responded to the scene.

There were no passengers in either car.
