Road closures in West Lafayette

At the West Lafayette’s Board of Works meeting, the board approved the closure of Chauncey Avenue, Northwestern Avenue and Columbia Street from Sept. 15 to Sept. 18 for both International Dot Day and Global Fest celebration.

On Sept. 15, only Chauncey Avenue adjacent to the library will be closed for the International Dot Day event, which the West Lafayette Public Library will host from 2 to 5 p.m.

Upcoming events on Chauncey

The library will be hosting a kid’s program where kids can create a piece of artwork and donate it to the library in exchange for a copy of Peter H. Reynolds’ book “The Dot”.

From Sept. 15 to Sept. 18, Chauncey Avenue, Northwestern Avenue and Columbia Street will be closed for Global Fest, which the city will host on Sept. 16 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The board also approved the lane closure of Wood Street between Chauncey Avenue and Salisbury Street, between Sept. 6 and Sept. 8, as part of the maintenance of traffic plan for the Verve 2 student housing complex.

Currently, only the eastbound lane of the road is open for construction until May 13, 2024, but from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8, there will be intermittent times during work hours when Wood Street will be fully closed to allow utility locations and boring work.
