Titans go off the rails in ‘Madden 21’ mock draft simulation

We’ve seen about a billion or two mock drafts for the Tennessee Titans this offseason with the 2021 NFL draft upcoming, but a recent one done by the folks over at Sporting News is unlike anything we’ve seen yet.

Sporting News’ Jordan Heck used the popular video game “Madden NFL 21” to put a two-round mock draft together.

Before getting started, Heck updated all rosters to their current versions, added in the 2021 draft class, and then simulated the event with the AI general managers having sole discretion over their picks.

And that’s where things went off the rails for the Titans.

At No. 22 overall, artificial intelligence Jon Robinson selected Notre Dame offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg, a prospect usually slated to go in the second round by experts.

This pick would amount to a reach, and such a move would make Titans fans crazy after the Isaiah Wilson debacle last year.

Grabbing Eichenberg, who is projected to be a starting left tackle at the next level, on Day 2 would be a much more solid move, as he could be the long-term answer for Tennessee at right tackle, and, perhaps down the line, at left tackle.

In the second round, things got even nuttier. Computer Jon Robinson dropped the “intelligence” part of AI with this pick, selecting running back Javonte Williams out of North Carolina.

While Williams has all of the tools to be a good pro, he simply isn’t a fit for the Titans, a team that already sports a star in Derrick Henry and spent a third-round pick on a backup running back last year in Darrynton Evans.
