Welcome to Talkin’ Titans. This is Titans beat reporter Ben Arthur.

Sorry if you were looking for us last night! I wanted to make sure you got the latest on the big Titans news of the week: roster cuts. Tennessee set its initial 53-man roster Tuesday after cutting 29 players.

One of the biggest takeaways? The team is keeping just five wide receivers. And with second-year pro Racey McMath reportedly expected to hit the injured reserve soon, bolstering that room should be priority No. 1.

Here are a few names to watch for the Titans on the waiver wire:

Tyler Johnson

Previous team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020-21)

The Titans have familiarity with Johnson, as he participated in Titans-Bucs joint practices for the last two years. The 2020 fifth-round pick had 36 receptions for 360 yards in 17 games last season.

Freddie Swain

Previous team: Seattle Seahawks (2020-21)

Swain was a key reserve in the Seahawks’ offense last season, posting 25 catches for 343 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games.

Marcus Johnson

Previous team: San Francisco 49ers (2022 offseason)

The Titans know Johnson well, as he played seven games for Tennessee last year. He was a preseason star for the team but landed on injured reserve in November. Johnson has 51 receptions for 839 yards and three scores in five NFL seasons.

Since has Johnson has at least four accrued seasons, he can sign with any team without hitting waivers.

Travis Fulgham

Previous team: Green Bay Packers (2022 offseason)

Fulgham hasn’t been able to recreate the magic of his 2020 season, when he had 38 receptions for 539 yards and four touchdowns, but he could worth taking a flyer on.

Preston Williams

Previous team: Miami Dolphins (2019-21)

Williams fell out of favor with the Dolphins, who reportedly engaged in trade talks for him before waiving him Tuesday. He had his best season as a rookie in 2019, when he caught 32 passes for 428 yards and three scores.

Deven Thompkins

Previous team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022 offseason)

Like Johnson, the Titans got a good look at Thompkins during joint practices with the Bucs earlier this month. He’s a speedy undrafted rookie out of Utah State.
