A Titusville couple was arrested after a toddler drowned in a swimming pool, the police department announced Sunday.

Titusville police charged Amanda Davis and Charner Williams IV, both 30, with aggravated manslaughter for the death of Davis’ daughter Athena Blevins on Saturday afternoon.

The couple’s roommate found Blevins, 23 months, unresponsive in a pool around 1:30 p.m. at their home in the 700 block of Knox McRae Drive, according to the agency.

Blevins was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The couple didn’t wake up until paramedics arrived to the scene, the police department said.

Investigators searched the home and found a “myriad of paraphernalia consistent with illegal drug use, which was also easily accessible to the toddler.”

The agency said there was no safety measures in place to prevent Blevins from reaching the pool or any other hazards like the street.

Davis and Williams are being held in Brevard County Jail without bond.
