Tiverton High School girls softball team keeps the bats hot and rolls to another big win

The Tiverton High School girls softball team continued to outclass Division-III competition as it rolled to a 14-0 win over Davies on Tuesday. The Tigers have reached double digits in scoring in each of their four division games and have outscored the opposition by 64-9 in their four victories.

Abby DeMello and Sadie Pickering, Tiverton softball

Tiverton recorded its fourth straight one-sided decision and remained unbeaten in Division-III as it downed host Davies 14-0 in five innings on Tuesday. DeMello pitched the shutout and struck out seven while also rapping two hits and driving in three runs. Pickering contributed a triple and single and scored three runs.

Jacob Mello and Evan LeVasseur, Middletown baseball

Middletown fell behind 11-0 and couldn’t fully recover as it bowed to Prout 12-7 on Tuesday in a Division-II contest at Gaudet Middle School. Mello and LeVasseur helped lead the comeback as each finished with three hits. Mello had a triple, two singles, two RBIs and two runs while LeVasseur had three singles and scored twice.

Matt Lynch, Rogers baseball

West Warwick tied the score in the fifth inning and added single runs in each of the next two frames as it rallied past Rogers for a 6-4 win at Cardines Field on Tuesday. Lynch doubled and scored on Conor Donahue’s hit in the second inning, then had a single in the Vikings three-run, third inning that gave them a 4-2 lead. The outcome left the Vikings and Wizards with a 2-1 record in Division-III.

Makalenani Lui and Afiya Brissett, Rogers girls track

The two seniors were among many athletes who won events as the Vikings defeated Shea 64-24, Tolman 66-15 and Middletown 67-28 and lost to host East Providence 60-46 in their opening Eastern Division meet. Lui won the shot put and Brissett was tops in the hammer throw in the April 3 contest.
