“I was interested in doing something like this on campus for our food pantry, and the culinary arts program was immediately receptive,” said Dave Funk, TJC art professor and honors program director. “It just hits all kinds of good marks: The ceramics students get to make art and give back a little, the cooking students get to practice their craft and feed people on the campus, plus it helps to raise awareness for both programs and our campus food pantry.”

TJC said that the ‘Souper Bowl’ soup options are the following:

  • Chicken and sausage gumbo

  • Cream of chicken

  • Caldo de res

  • Chili

  • Tortilla soup

  • Potluck vegan soup

“The menu they’ve come up with looks amazing and we’ll have a lot of bowls on hand, so we hope everyone will join us and have some soup for a good cause,” said Funk.
