TLC Community Credit Union selects Jeff Brehmer as new president, chief executive officer

ADRIAN — There will soon be a change in leadership at a local banking institution, with an expected transition date to occur in the spring of 2023.

TLC Community Credit Union’s board of directors announced last week the selection of Jeff Brehmer as the credit union’s next president/chief executive officer. Brehmer will succeed Randy Smith, who is retiring after 23 years of leading the credit union as CEO, a news release from TLC said. The expected transition date is March 4, 2023, according to the release.

The board of directors and outgoing CEO, Smith, said they are confident Brehmer is the ideal person to lead TLC Community Credit Union in its mission of continued growth and success.

“We are confident Jeff will continue TLC’s legacy of ‘People Helping People,’” the release said.

Brehmer’s leadership with the credit union began in 2015 when he volunteered to serve as a member of TLC’s supervisory committee, and then as a board of director/treasurer. In 2018, he was hired as vice president — administration and most recently, served as TLC’s executive vice president.

“Jeff has an exceptional understanding of credit union operations, finance and administrative roles,” Smith said in the release. “He is passionate about the mission and vision of TLC Community Credit Union and will continue to provide members with great financial services along with strong community involvement and support.”

Randy Smith started his career with TLC Community Credit Union in the loan department in 1980. He has worked in most areas of the credit union, taking over for TLC’s first CEO, Wayne Zettel, in January 2000. Smith is retiring and will be succeeded by Jeff Brehmer in March 2023.
