Being the amazing Team U.S.A. cheerleader that she is, Today show coanchor Hoda Kotb couldn't help but cheer on Simone Biles during the balance beam final on Tuesday.

The 56-year-old NBC cohost watched from the stands as the 24-year-old Olympian celebrated her strong dismount following a difficult week at the Olympics. Last week, Simone announced that she was withdrawing from the all-around women’s gymnastics team final and, subsequently, four all-around individual events. But before the Summer Games were over, she returned to the beam and earned a bronze medal for Team USA.

In the below Instagram video, Hoda was captured excitedly waving around her daughter Haley Joy’s red, white and blue dress while cheering on Simone. “Gooooo simone! @simonebiles,” she captioned the clip.

After seeing Hoda's support and encouragement, fans took to the Instagram comments section to share their gratitude with the broadcast journalist.

“Yayay!!!! Love Simone and your enthusiasm 👏👏👏,” one person wrote. “You are the best cheering on for @simonebiles She did it she did it ❤️❤️❤️👏👏,” another added. “Love it!!!! I know Simone is grateful for your support!” a different fan said. “You are the cheerleader and mother figure they all needed and it’s so wonderful to hear and see you loving on them!!!” a follower commented.

In a different clip, Simone later appeared to spot Hoda in the crowd in the stands and waved at her. "We love you! We love you!" Hoda shouted in the middle of applause. The two also exchanged heart hand signs.

After Simone won bronze for the event, Hoda opened up to her fellow Today show cohost Jenna Bush Hager about the moment. “She got up there and I got to tell you, Jenna, she killed it,” Hoda said. “Forget the score, forget the color of the medal, forget it all. She did the damn thing. She got up again! That’s what life is about. She nailed it. I felt like a proud mom. She’s amazing.”

Hoda was among the many celebrities who stood by Simone’s side when she first pulled out of the competition to focus on [her] well-being. The mother of two called her “a class act” for still cheering on her teammates from the sidelines.

"I'm proud of myself for the way I pushed through and even learned that dismount that I haven't done in years. And just put up a good set, that's all I really wanted,” Simone said on the Today show. “I wasn't expecting to walk away with a medal or anything, I just wanted to go out there and do it for myself. And I did."
