Dangerous tactics

As a longtime subscriber to the Daily Commercial, I have come to understand that the content of the vast majority of articles concerning political debate are favoring one party (Democrats) and disparaging others (Republicans and Independents) and, now that they are part of USA Today, it has become even more ridiculous.

In an article titled “Rivalry,” the writer describes critical race theory as "A framework of thought used by scholars (union teachers)."

The same tactic is being used today by radicals in the Middle East and has been used in the past by the Germans in the lead up to World War II. This is very dangerous, and we all are well aware of the outcomes.

Hopefully the American public can distinguish this dangerously biased ideology for what it is and make choices for their children based on common sense and their own beliefs.

Disgusted

Are you as disgusted as I am by the lack of at least an apology by Kyle Rittenhouse to the families of the people he killed? What's even worse is to have some Republican members of Congress cheering him on as a hero, and in particular Matt Goetz hinting what a great congressional aide Rittenhouse would make, effectively rewarding him. The behavior we are seeing has become reprehensible. May God help us if Goetz and others like him remain in Washington.

Truth is set forth as lies, up is down. Not to mention the fact that Gov. DeSantis plays Russian roulette with the lives of Floridians every day as he opposes any federal effort to save people's lives. DeSantis is the biggest hurdle to Florida putting COVID in the rearview mirror. His political ambitions far outweigh his concern for public health.

I've seen his kind before. They make you feel superior to others because you're a Floridian and nobody is going to tell you what to do! They stir up anger. They also give you someone to hate, in this case Health and Human Services, the CDC (which actually stands for Center for Disease Control, by the way), OSHA and any other entity that has your best interest at heart. Above him he defies the federal government and below him he overrules county officials and school boards as they also try to keep you safe. He thinks he is the be all and end all of everything. He is not God. He is a little man who thinks he's a dictator. Don't be fooled.

Florida’s gas tax

People in “Flori-duh” (my friend from Miami coined that) will praise Little Trumper DeSantis for his efforts to suspend the gas tax.

Where was he last year, when oil was plummeting into the $30 range? Then the 20s? Then the teens? Then single digits? Then when history is made twice? Oil hits $0 and then negative value. All this happened due to pandemic and travel restrictions, the glut of oil and no storage space and, all the while, our gas prices sank no lower than $1.59 while others are paying less than $1 a gallon.

The governor is out of touch. He has his own agenda at the heart of his ambition instead of serving the people. Florida will not move forward with these politicians, so stop crying about draining the swamp.
