Hero or crook?

Trump's White House counsel — who will he become? A hero like Nixon's John Dean, or a convicted felon like Nixon's John Ehrlichman? We will soon find out!

We now know from the Jan. 6 commission hearings that the White House counsel had his hands full trying to keep Trump from breaking the law and violating the Constitution. Trump did both. We just found out that the threatening message sent to Cassidy Hutchinson concerning her testimony to the Jan. 6 commission was sent by none other than Mark Meadows! Witness intimidation here; looks like Meadows may also be going to jail. Surprised about mob-like behavior? Nothing new here; Trump has been tied to the mob for decades. Got his concrete for his New York buildings from S&A concrete. Fat Tony Salerno (Genovese crime boss) and Paul Castellano (Gambino crime boss) — sound familiar? Just as bad, Trump learned his conniving ways from the dirtbag mob lawyer Roy Cohn, who gained fame for his representation of another dirtbag, Sen. Joe McCarthy. If you wonder why Trump never put "pen to paper" about anything, you can thank Cohn. No evidence left behind is the best evidence when you are a criminal.

It appears that the Jan. 6 commission's uncovering of many of the crimes committed by Trump is having a positive effect on the sane Republicans and independent voters. I can only hope. If Republicans take control of the House and Senate in the midterms, we are a doomed nation. Everything poisonous that has happened during the last five years in our country is the result of crooked Republican politicians. Be thankful we had a handful of decent, honorable Republicans in a handful of states who refused to go along with Trump's coup.

I can't wait for future emboldened witnesses to testify. Already we are seeing people contacting the Jan. /6 committee to come back in and clarify their previous testimony and/or memory lapses. Whether for fear or decency, I don't care — as long as they reveal the truth.

And remember, all this misery, shame, death and insurrection could have been avoided if only 10 more U.S. Republican senators had voted with the 57 other senators who found Trump guilty at his second impeachment. I long for the time when this Trump cancer is removed from our society and he is in prison where he belongs!

School board candidates

Is there any way that school board candidates are not endorsed by Gov. DeSantis? The unendorsed candidates are the ones whom I want to vote for because any candidates endorsed by DeSantis want to destroy public education.

Living with COPD

Thirteen percent of Florida seniors have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

COPD is a group of diseases that block airflow and make it hard to breathe. Symptoms include frequent coughing or wheezing; excess phlegm, mucus or sputum; and shortness of breath.

Symptoms such as frequent coughing can make it harder for your lungs to fight off germs. That means it’s easier to catch viral respiratory infections.

If you’re a senior with COPD, certain vaccines may help you avoid serious illness. Be sure to talk to your doctor about vaccines.
