Former Cincinnati Reds fan favorite Todd Frazier got a huge ovation from the Great American Ball Park crowd Thursday as he threw a strike to Reds catcher and former Covington Catholic High School standout Luke Maile for the team's Opening Day ceremonial first pitch.

Frazier, who announced his retirement from baseball about one year ago, last played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Reds' opponent to start the season.

Frazier hit .257 with 108 home runs and 324 RBIs in five seasons in Cincinnati. He was an All-Star with the Reds in 2014 and 2015.

The Reds traded Frazier to the Chicago White Sox in Dec. 2015 in a deal that brought Jose Peraza, Scott Schebler and Brandon Dixon from the Dodgers.

Bally Sports Ohio's Jim Day caught up with Frazier:

Maile talked to Bally Sports Ohio's Jim Day before the game about what it means to him to play for his hometown team.

Frazier tweeted in Feb. 2021 about when he celebrated a 2013 home run he promised then-honorary batboy Ted Kremer. Frazier and Kremer reunited in 2018 at GABP before a Reds-Mets game.
