Toddler dies in violent crash — driver was going 121 mph in 45-mph zone, Vegas cops say

A driver going 121 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone crashed and a 1-year-old boy in her car was killed, Las Vegas news outlets report.

Lauren Prescia, 23, was driving a Hyundai Sonata with the boy while drunk Sunday night, according to KLAS. The driver smashed into another car while making a right turn, the Associated Press reported.

The car spun off the road, hit a marquee sign and severed the car’s right half, according to KTNV.

“During the first court hearing Monday afternoon, a judge said Prescia was driving 121 mph in a 45-mph zone when the crash happened,” KLAS reported.

The 1-year-old, identified as Prescia’s son Royce, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to KTNV.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, the AP reported. Prescia is facing charges of DUI, reckless driving and the abuse, neglect and endangerment of a child, according to KLAS.
