Toddler found unresponsive in November died from fentanyl overdose

After being found unresponsive Nov. 11 at a 27th Avenue N. home, 23-month-old Ariel Rose's death is being investigated as negligent homicide.

Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Brooke Reese said the medical examiner ruled Rose died of accidental exposure to fentanyl.

Reese said following the medical examiner's report, Rose's case was reclassified and police would seek negligent homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing. There are no suspects at this time.
