Toddler reported missing on Thursday morning found in nearby waters, reports Chatham County Police
A Wilmington Island family is mourning the loss of a 19-month-old boy today after he apparently wandered from the porch of a home in the 1100 block of Bob White Road and fell into water nearby.
Chatham County Police were dispatched to the home at 11:52 a.m., following a report of a missing child by family members who were caring for him. The home, located in a wooded area, is also near Beard Creek and other waterways.

Chatham County Police called in multiple agencies to assist, including Chatham Marine Patrol, Savannah Police drone operators and divers, and SPD's mounted patrol. The Statesboro Police Department's canine patrol also responded.
According to a CCPD press release, a member of the Chatham County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division spotted the child in the water near the home at 12:56 p.m., and jumped into the water to rescue the child. Chatham Emergency Services transported the boy to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
There are no other details available at this time.
