Toddler safe after fall from moving vehicle caught on video

A 2-year-old is safe after falling from a moving car while still strapped to a car seat, an incident captured by a witness and shared in video on social media.

Facebook user Chad Mock posted footage from his dashcam of the moment of the child's fall.

Roughly 15 seconds into the video, a vehicle is shown braking to turn when a door on the driver's side swings open and the toddler — still in her car seat — falls out. It then shows people running to the street to stop traffic and move to toddler off the road.

"If it didn't happen in front of me i'd never have believed it," Mock said in a post.

Dan Schisel, a police commander in Mankato, Minnesota, where the incident occurred, said paramedics found the child was not hurt, reports the Mankato Free Press.

The child's mother was driving and returned to the scene once she realized what happened, the newspaper reported.

According to local station KMSP-TV, police say the toddler was properly strapped to the child seat, but the child seat was not fastened to the vehicle's seat.

Police have forwarded charges of child endangerment and child restraint not fastened to prosecutors for review, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.
