Toddler seriously injured by vehicle in Mansfield, Arkansas

A toddler was struck by a vehicle in a driveway Friday in Mansfield, authorities said.

The parents tried to drive the seriously injured child to a hospital when 911 dispatchers in contact with them told them to stop at the Mansfield Police Department.

Mansfield Elementary School was used as a landing pad for a medical helicopter, which took the child to a Tulsa hospital, authorities reported.

Details about the accident were not immediately available from Mansfield police, who worked the incident Friday.

According to reports, a 1-year-old boy was playing behind a vehicle and his father backed over him. The father used a jack to free the boy, who was heard crying on a 911 call by the father to a dispatcher.

The child suffered serious injuries, according to reports.
