Toddler, two infants injured in two-car wreck Saturday just outside Monett

A toddler and two infants were among six people injured in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon just west of Monett.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said four of the injured people were taken by ambulance to CoxSouth hospital with moderate injuries. The other two were driven to the hospital in private vehicles.

There were a toddler and infant in one car and an infant in the other car. All three were in car seats, the patrol reported.

Brooke Yahner, 19, of Pierce City, was driving a Ford Mustang east on Farm Road 1040, three miles west of Monett, when it pulled into the path of a southbound Mazda driven by Cruz Charles-Johnson, 22, of Monett.

The crash was reported at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

Yahner and passenger Caylah Meredith, 18, of Monett were in a car with two infant girls. Yahner was not wearing a seatbelt and it was unknown if Meredith was wearing one, the patrol reported.

Charles-Johnson, who also was not wearing a seatbelt, had a toddler girl riding in his vehicle.

The patrol does not release the names of juveniles in its online crash reports.
