Tolland's Anderson scores twice in boys soccer win over Manchester

Sep. 28—Cole Anderson was in the middle of everything the Tolland High boys soccer team's offense accomplished Tuesday.

Anderson netted two goals and added a pair of assists as the Eagles downed host Manchester 4-1 in a CCC East contest.

Vince Cassarino, assisted by Anderson and Andrew Brutnell, gave the Eagles (3-1-2) the lead with 12 minutes gone. Anderson netted his first goal off an assist by Carson Merluzzo to make it 2-0 at halftime. Anderson opened the second-half scoring and then assisted on sophomore Sean Collins' first career goal to put Tolland ahead 4-0. Juan Solis broke up the shutout with a late goal for Manchester (1-4-1).

Noah Hill had three saves for Tolland, which plays at Hall Friday. Joe Rose posted four saves for Manchester, which visits Rocky Hill Thursday.

SOUTH WINDSOR 3, ENFIELD 0. Goalie Kyle Sullivan made four saves, including a stop on a first-half penalty shot to keep the game scoreless, as host South Windsor recorded a CCC East win.

Drew Monteserin beat two Enfield defenders to give the Bobcats (5-0-2) a halftime lead. They doubled the lead 3:46 into the second half on a goal by Jake Gattuso then iced it with Aadi Dey's goal with 10:47 left.

Lucas Wachtel made four saves for Enfield (2-2-2), which hosts Platt on Thursday. Dylan Hart and Traizen Griffith also played well. South Windsor entertains Bloomfield Friday.

EAST HARTFORD 2, E.O. SMITH 1. Alex Martinez and Adriel Figueroa scored a goal apiece to lead host East Hartford to a CCC East victory.

Martinez gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead off an assist with 23:13 remaining in the first half and Figueroa doubled the hosts' advantage 10 minutes later.

Thad Hempel found the back of the net three minutes into the second half to cut the Panthers' deficit to one, but the visitors were unable to net the equalizer.

Abdul Jimbah and Orr Teva each provided an assist for the Hornets (4-2-1). Goalie Lesly Pinthiere made five saves.

Goalie Garrett Ballou made seven stops for the Panthers (2-3-0).

East is at Wethersfield Thursday.

EAST CATHOLIC 0, RHAM 0. East Catholic goalie Alejandro Oyewole made six saves and his RHAM counterpart Erik Buden five saves as the teams played a scoreless tie in CCC East play in Manchester.

Both teams are on the road Thursday as the Eagles (0-4-2) visit Hartford Public and the Raptors (2-2-2) travel to Northwest Catholic.

GLASTONBURY 1, AVON 1. Vihaan Shah's goal gave host Glastonbury a CCC West tie. The Guardians (6-0-1) entered the game ranked No. 3 in the Class LL/L coaches poll. Avon is 3-1-2 and received a goal from Matias Monteiro

Glastonbury hosts Conard Thursday.

ROCKY HILL 2, WINDSOR 1. Austin Murawski scored twice as visiting Rocky Hill picked up a CCC North win.

Jakub Gawron made eight saves in goal for the Terriers (4-1-1). Nigel Martin had the goal for Windsor (3-3-0), which also received 11 saves from goalie Micah Gregory.

The Warriors are at Bristol Eastern Friday.

BOLTON 7, SMSA 0. Dimani Radford had a pair of first-half goals as host Bolton rolled to the NCCC victory.

Gavin LaPlante and Owen Bonano also scored in the first half as the Bulldogs (5-3-0) led 4-0 at the break. Alex McFarlane started the second-half scoring with the first varsity goals by Jason Mwangi and Xavier Maxwell closing it out. Andrew Baranov chipped in two assists. Goalies Trevor Buchanan and Sam Segar combined for two saves in the shutout. Colando Gayle made eight saves for SMSA (1-7-0).

Bolton travels to Rockville on Friday.

ELLINGTON 7, WINDSOR LOCKS 0. Owen Hoffman had a natural hat trick as Ellington, ranked No. 2 in the Class M/S coaches poll, remained perfect with an NCCC road win.

After assisting on Nathan Beyurne's goal that opened the scoring, Hoffman netted the next three goals to give the Knights (5-0-0) a 4-0 lead. Beturne, Samuel Dorst, and Alex Josevski closed out the scoring. Cole Leavitt made two saves for Ellington's fifth straight shutout. Caden Mackey had seven saves for Windsor Locks (1-4-0).

The Knights host Stafford Thursday. The Raiders visit East Granby Friday.

SUFFIELD 1, GRANBY 0. Timmy Tkacz scored the lone goal and goalie Craig Gnatek made it stand up with seven saves as Suffield (5-1-0) topped NCCC rival Granby (1-4-0) at Ted Beneski Field.

The Wildcats will take a five-game winning streak into Friday's contest in East Windsor.

COVENTRY 3, EAST GRANBY 0. Aiden Hecht scored twice as host Coventry picked up the NCCC win.

Stanley Strycharz gave the Patriots (4-1-0) a lead with his goal in the opening minute. Hecht made it 2-0 with an assist by Aiden Jeamel and then added his second goal, assisted by Owen Dieterle, to make it 3-0 at halftime. Justin Foran made three saves for the shutout. East Granby is 3-4-1).
