Tom Brady Thanks Parents for Showing Him What 'True Love' Means on 50th Wedding Anniversary

Tom Brady posted a special tribute to his parents this weekend to mark their five decades of marriage.

The New England Patriots quarterback posted two pictures of Tom Brady Sr. and Galynn Brady to his Instagram on Friday to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The first photograph shows the happy couple on their wedding day, while another shows them embracing at Mercedez-Benz Field in Atlanta in the lead-up to the Patriots’ championship win at Super Bowl LIII in February.

In his post, Brady included a heartfelt message about his parents that described how they taught him and his siblings the importance of commitment and respect in their own relationships.

“50 years ago today, my mom and dad were married and began the journey to start their own family,” wrote Brady — who is married to supermodel Gisele Bündchen, 38. “The strength of their marriage has always been an inspiration and the best example to me and my sisters of what true love, respect and commitment mean.”

The six-time champion also alluded to the struggles his mother, Galaynn, faced when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2016, and how the family banded together.

“Life always has its ups and downs and their togetherness in good and bad taught us teamwork,” Brady wrote. “Their trust, love and dedication as parents taught us how to become the parents we are today. They have always put our family first and instilled in us the values they were taught from their parents, which we now carry on and teach our own kids.”

Brady then thanked his parents for helping him go after his goals, even when things looked bleak (such as when he was picked No. 199 in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft).

“They have always encouraged us to attain milestones and we’re honored to celebrate this one they’ve achieved,” he wrote. “We love you so much, mom and dad. Happy anniversary!”
