Tom Daley has revealed that he had to pay £250 to have his picture taken with his OBE.

The diver received the honour in 2022 for services to sport, LGBT rights and charity and was presented with the medal by the then-Prince Charles.

Appearing on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe's podcast Parenting Hell, the Olympic gold medalist revealed several behind the scenes details from the day including having to pay for his photo to be taken.

Daley said: "You're not allowed to take your phone in, no pictures inside because they're going to take it for you and charge you."

Asked how much he was charged, the Olympian said: "It was about £250."

Daley attended the ceremony with his husband, the writer Dustin Lance Black. At the time, Daley posted a picture of himself receiving the honour from Charles along with the caption "was talking all things knitting with HRH Prince of Wales".

Daley also said he would he would, "be honoured to use this platform to work toward protections for all LGBT+ people around the Commonwealth and beyond."

Black, who won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for Milk, also paid tribute to Daley when he received the OBE, writing on Instagram: "So proud of you, @TomDaley. Loving you is the most magical adventure."

Daley and Black welcomed their first child via surrogacy in 2018 but the couple do not publicly share pictures of their son over privacy concerns.

Daley was recently announced to be taking part in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer alongside the likes of Friends star David Schwimmer, former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, Top Gear host Paddy McGuinness and The Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas.

Among the stars to previously appear in the charity version of the show are Ellie Goulding, James McAvoy and Louis Theroux.
