Tom Grennan criticises expensive cost of concert tickets

Tom Grennan has criticised the expensive cost of tickets for concertgoers.

Appearing on Lorraine, the singer detailed his efforts to keep the cost of his tickets down.

Talking to guest host Christine Lampard, Grennan said: "I am aware of where everyone is at right now and I saw loads of artists putting tickets out that are way too expensive for the times that we are in."

The chart topper added: "I just want people to come to the shows and not worry the next day if they need to eat or pay bills. They should come and have fun and let their hair down for a night."

For Grennan's upcoming tour, which starts in March 2023 in Birmingham, ticket prices start from £30.25.

There has been particular criticism focussed on the rising cost of Glastonbury tickets. The price of the festival has been put up to £340, a huge increase over the last general sale price of £265 plus booking fee.

Festival organiser Emily Eavis defended the price rise, saying: "The £50 deposit on ticket sales day in November will be the same as ever, with the balance not due until April. And, as always, there will be opportunities for many thousands of people to come as volunteers or part of the crew."

She added: "In these incredibly challenging times, we want to continue to bring you the best show in the world and provide our charities with funds which are more vital than ever. We are always, hugely appreciative, of your ongoing support."

Bruce Springsteen was also criticised for the cost of tickets on his forthcoming UK tour. The rock legend's upcoming tour is using a dynamic pricing model allowing Ticketmaster to charge more for tickets when they first go on sale and reactively adjust prices based on demand and secondary market value.

Some of the tickets for Springsteen's stadium shows cost thousands of pounds.
