Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson test positive for coronavirus. ‘We felt a bit tired.’

Actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus, Deadline reported.

Hanks and wife Wilson were in Australia for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley film, the outlet reported.

Warner Brothers told the outlet they were “aware that a company member” from the movie “tested positive for COVID-19” and are “working closely with Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.”

They are the first celebrities to be public about being diagnosed with coronavirus, Variety reported.

Hanks also posted a statement on his Twitter account:

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”

The World Health Organization declared coronavirus a pandemic Wednesday, according to STAT News. Cases of coronavirus, COVID-19, have passed 115,000 worldwide, according to CNN. There have also been at least 1,000 cases in the U.S.
