Tom Hardy will return to CBeebies Bedtime Stories tonight (July 5), following up his 2016 appearance that went down a storm with children and parents alike.

The Peaky Blinders star's new guest appearance will feature a reading of Zog and the Flying Doctors by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The story will follow "Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout and their trusty 'air ambulance', Zog the dragon, as they fly around and tend to a sunburnt mermaid, a distressed unicorn and a sneezy lion."

Hardy's first appearance on CBeebies Bedtime Stories dates back to 2016 for the New Year's Eve edition of the early evening show.

Accompanied by his dog Woodstock, the action actor read You Must Bring a Hat by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley, following a boy who goes to a party.

His stint on the children's programme, in contrast with his tough guy onscreen appearance, proved to be so popular that he returned to the show in 2017, reading Tom McLaughlin's The Cloudspotter for Valentine's Day that year.

This time, Tom will read the story in his back garden accompanied by his dog Blue after Woodstock passed away.

But Hardy isn't the only notable name lending their voice to the programme, of course. Throughout the years, the likes of Steve Carell, Harry Styles and Strictly Come Dancing and former EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis took on some beloved stories for the audience.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories airs each weekday at 6:50pm on the CBeebies channel, and is also available on BBC iPlayer. The episode hosted by Tom Hardy will air tonight, on Wednesday, July 5.
