Like A Family

With the news that negotiations between Disney and Sony broke down over who owns the rights to the character of Spider-Man, Tom Holland's fate in the MCU is left in jeopardy. His Peter Parker has appeared in five different films, but as the deal stands now, he will no longer be apart of the Avengers or appear again in an MCU film.

Since joining the MCU, Tom Holland has made it quite clear how much the projects and people have meant to him. He said at a panel for Salt Lake City Comic Con:

"My first screen test was with (Robert) Downey, we did a scene that’s in the film — the scene where I first meet him. I just remember doing my auditions and I got to know the crew real well because we were there for a couple of days and you know, I like to introduce myself to everyone so that I get to know everyone. By the time I came back to actually start filming, I felt like I was already part of the family, which Marvel has done really well."

Additional Projects

Even if he doesn't return for a future Avengers film, he does have multiple other projects lined up with other MCU players. He will star with Chris Pratt, a.k.a Guardians Of The Galaxy's Starlord in Pixar's upcoming film Onward, where the two will play elf brothers on a quest in a mythical realm.

He's also starring in another animated film called Spies In Disguise with Ben Mendelsohn and Karen Gillian, as well as the remake of Doctor Dolittle alongside Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man's Future

And even if Spider-Man will no longer be in the MCU, Holland is not done playing Peter Parker just yet. He'll just be solely under the Sony banner. Plus, at this point, things are still a bit up in the air. Still, Holland remains characteristically optimistic.

"Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler."
