Tom Parker nominated for National Television Award

Tom Parker has been nominated for a National Television Award five months after he died.

The Wanted singer is nominated for his documentary Inside My Head which was about his life while dealing with a brain tumour.

The late singer is nominated in the category of Best Authored Documentary along with the likes of Kate Garraway and Katie Price.

Inside My Head aired on Channel 4 last October, five months before Parker died from complications relating to his brain cancer, aged just 33.

The film followed Parker and his family as they dealt with his diagnosis and the pop star's attempts to organise a concert to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer research.

The concert, also called Inside My Head, featured performances from Liam Payne, McFly and Sigrid with Parker also performing as part of The Wanted.

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway is also nominated for the award for her follow-up documentary about caring for her husband during his recovery from Covid-19.

The other nominees are Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next; Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer And Me; and Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family And Autism.

The winner will be chosen by public vote with the results being announced at the National Television Awards on 15 September.

Comedian Joel Dommett is set to host and the ceremony will air live on ITV from the OVO Arena Wembley.

Among the other nominations, Ant and Dec are going for their 21st consecutive win in the Best Presenter category.

They go up against Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh and Graham Norton.

Netflix's Bridgerton is also nominated for three awards including Best Returning Drama alongside Call the Midwife, Peaky Blinders and The Split.
