Petty Fever - Tom Petty Tribute

Petty Fever, a multi-award-winning production tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, will be performing Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Odell Williamson Auditorium, and will feature guitarist/vocalist and 2016 Hollywood Fame award winner, Frank Murray.

The band, which is the recipient of multiple entertainment awards, will deliver an amazing and memorable salute to the musical legacy of Tom Petty, performing over four decades of classic Tom Petty hits such as "American Girl," "Breakdown," "I Won’t Back Down," and many more.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Performance begins at 7 p.m. Odell Williamson Auditorium is located on the campus of Brunswick Community College.

Sandbar lecture: North Carolina Offshore Wind

Karly Lohan from the Southeastern Wind Coalition will present a presentation on offshore wind in North Carolina, including the history and significance of offshore wind, the status of offshore wind development in North Carolina, challenges and opportunities it presents to the state, and how to get involved.

The lecture will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Museum of Coastal Carolina, 21 E. Second St., Ocean Isle Beach.

Lohan leads member communications, social media development and outreach efforts, and grassroots and lawmaker engagement in Southeastern North Carolina. She received her master's degree in Coastal and Ocean Policy from University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md.

Prior to joining SEWC, Lohan collaborated with environmental grassroots organizations on various issues, including natural resource conservation, water quality research, plastic pollution research and outreach, and climate justice issues. Lohan also coordinates the Ocean Friendly Establishment Program, offering resources to help businesses improve their sustainability practices and earn recognition for their commitment to the environment.

Belville's Veterans Day Ceremony

Belville will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at the Belville Riverwalk Veterans Memorial, located at 580 River Road.

The town will also commemorate the three-year anniversary of the Veterans Memorial. During the ceremony, mayor Mike Allen, an Army veteran, will deliver remarks and join with others to lay a wreath at the Veterans Memorial to honor the sacrifices of American service members.

This Veterans Day, in support of military veterans statewide and across the country, Belville is inviting residents to join the Operation Green Light initiative. This initiative shows support for veterans by lighting homes, buildings and infrastructure green from Nov. 7-Nov. 13. Mayor Allen will also read a proclamation in support of Operation Green Light and Belville will install green lights to honor those who made the immeasurable sacrifice to preserve our freedom. Southport Veterans Day event

To honor its veterans, Southport is hosting a Veterans Day event at 2 p.m. Nov. 11, cosponsored by the Southport Police Department and the NC Fourth of July Festival. The keynote speaker will be Colonel Paul Fisher, U.S. Army, retired. The event will begin with live music on the lawn of Fort Johnston-Southport Museum & Visitors' Center. Jackson Grimm & The Bull Moose Party Band

Listen Up Brunswick County presents Jackson Grimm & The Bull Moose Party Band.

Jackson Grimm marries folk pop melodies with the lonesome sound of traditional Appalachian music. In a region with a strong music culture, it is no surprise that Grimm's songwriting is representative of his musical birthplace, Asheville. Grimm will be performing with The Bull Moose Party Band. The band is on Grimm's latest album by the same name, "The Bull Moose Party."
