Tomb Raider sequel director shares the film's working title

Tomb Raider 2 director Misha Green has offered up a promising new update on the action-adventure sequel.
The writer-director, who is perhaps best known for her work on television series such as Underground and Lovecraft Country, took to Twitter recently to post a picture of the script's cover page, as she confirmed that the film's first draft had been completed.
The cover page also included a working title for the film too, meaning that the Tomb Raider follow-up may end up being officially named Tomb Raider: Obsidian.
"Still a long journey to production," Green wrote in the tweet. "Title's not even approved... But first draft finished!!!"
Green is set to make her feature directorial debut with Tomb Raider 2, having taken the helm back in late January after it was confirmed that Rebecca's Ben Wheatley, who was previously attached to direct the sequel, had exited the project.
The movie had originally planned to go into production in April 2020 for a release in March 2021, but the project was subsequently put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. MGM later removed the outing from its release schedule altogether, citing worldwide cinema closures.
While details of the sequel have been kept under wraps, it has long been rumoured that it'll attempt to retell the story of 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider game.

Released in 2018, Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, following her as she sets off on a dangerous mission to uncover the truth behind her archaeologist father's disappearance.
Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas all also featured in the film.
