Tomlinson: Serving constituents, protecting quality of life

I was first elected a little over two years ago in special election right at the beginning of COVID. Certainly not the easiest of times but, I was determined to deliver real results for our families, our small businesses, our schools, and our first responders.

I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish these last two years, and with your vote this November, I know we can do even more in the next two years. I’d like to take this opportunity to talk a little bit about some of these achievements so far.

As a graduate of Bensalem public schools, I understand firsthand the importance of an education system that prepares our students for success. With that in mind, I delivered record funding for our local public schools, including millions of dollars in grant funding that will help make our schools safer.

Many of you remember the flood and tornado that struck our area last summer. It broke my heart to see so many families devastated by this natural disaster. I knew that something had to be done to help provide relief when they needed it most, we were able to secure nearly $2 million dollars in state funding to help with home repairs and an additional half a million dollars for infrastructure repairs in Bensalem.

Record gas prices and historic inflation have made it harder for everyone to make ends meet. Budgets are stretched thin by rising prices, and we must find ways to provide much-needed relief to working families. I have a clear record working to address these challenges by voting to cut taxes, create stability in the supply chain, and lower energy prices.

Finally, we must protect the quality of life we enjoy in Bensalem. The only way we can do that is by keeping out soft on crime Philadelphia-style policies from our community. That’s why I am proud to have earned the support of the men and women who work every day to keep our streets safe. They need someone to fight for them, support them, and help provide the tools they need to do their jobs.

In fact, last year, I helped to bring nearly $1 million dollars in state funding for the Bensalem Township Police Department to combat human and drug trafficking that has creeped into our communities from Philadelphia.

This is in addition to passing two laws that I wrote to help protect our community — one targeting organized retail theft and another, “Lindsey’s Law,” which will strengthen penalties for online sexual harassment and extortion.

While these are just a few examples of the larger legislative accomplishments, it is the everyday difference that our office makes as we provide our constituents with the best possible service.

I hope that I have earned your trust and your support over these last two years. I humbly ask for your vote as a seek re-election this year, and I look forward to all we will achieve together.
